Woody's Restaurant @ 2511 Cottage Grove in Des Moines.
Woody's Smoke Shack Championship BBQ, has purchased the building at 2511 Cottage
Grove Avenue in Des Moines. The former building of Sammy Jacks's BBQ and Blues,
and for the older generation of Des Moines, The Blind Munchies.
Owners Steve "Woody" Wasson and his wife Cheryl Wasson have decided to open
the restaurant with their full menu of championship BBQ meats and foods.
The restaurant will open in early June, with new equipment and
an on site smoker to assure the freshes of BBQ meat for their patrons.
All meats will be smoked on site and side dishes will be prepared daily.
Weekly specials, weekend take out specials ,frozen side dishes for convience,
a hoilday menu, and also our full catering menu will be avaliable.
Woody's Smoke Shack will continue with vending and catering in their
30 foot mobile kitchen seen through out the metro area, serving the
finest fresh smoked BBQ and also pulling down the road to competition
BBQ events through out the midwest. Competition BBQ meats are perfectly
prepared with rubs and spices, smoked on Southern Pride Smokers for hours
of slow cooking resulting in mouth watering delicious results.
Woody's Smoke
Shack will be open Mondays throught Fridays 11:00 to 7:00 and Saturdays 11:00
to 2:00 for eat in or dine on the patio's or take out, we have you covered.

Woody's BBQ was established in 2002 by Cheryl and Woody Wasson. Woody's Smoke Shack became successful winning awards in many contest around the Midwest, including the World Pork Expo, the American Royal in Kansas City, and the Jack Daniels Invitational in Lynchburg, Tennessee, three of the most prestigious contest in the United States. Our specialty is BBQ, and we are a full service Caterer, Vendor and Personal Chef Service. Grand Buffed to custom requests, give us an idea and we will make it happen. We travel nationwide from “Ribfest” to NASCAR, any location you need. No event is too large or too small.
